Brevard County Sheriff's Deputy Lucille Ross ,
crime scene agent was killed while answering a call in
Merritt Island, Investigators said Agent Lucille Ross died while
responding to a possible suicide crime scene at about 2315 hours
Friday. Officials said Lucille "Lucy"
Ross, 51, was alone in her sheriff's office van when her she
apparently ran into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95
near state Road 407 in Titusville. Ross was pronounced dead at the
scene. The driver of the truck, Amelia
Rossi, of Hialeah, was not injured
Ross, a 29-year law-enforcement veteran,
was a sketch artist and crime scene investigator.
Ross was married to former Titusville Police Chief Frank Ross and
was the mother of two teen
sons Shane and Aaron .

I sat next to Lucy through 400 hours of training in Tennessee
(National Forensic Academy, Session VII). She had a true passion for
her work in a time when most are simply eager to clear the scene. I
hate the fact I won't be able to kid around with her again, but I'm
proud and honored to have met her...she was a professional. God bless
her children, Shane - Aaron, for they truly meant the world to her.
