WALKERTOWN, N.C. Forsyth County Sheriff's Reserve
Deputy
James Johnson Sr., Reba Idol, 65, of 7728 Vance Road and Dwight
Allen, 41, of 7718 Vance Road were killed Thursday in a
shootout that escalated from a dispute between neighbors over
property lines. The first shots were fired around 6:30 p.m. in
northeastern Forsyth County near Walkertown, Both Deputies
responded to the scene immediately and confronted the suspect, who
then
opened fire on them with a high powered rifle,
the
second reserve deputy, Jeremy Rowley, 33 was shot in the arm and chest, but was
saved by his bullet-proof vest, Johnson
was not wearing a vest. The two officers lived near the
shooting scene on Vance Road
north of Kernersville and responded to reports of shots fired. The
suspect was also shot and wounded
as a result of return fire. He was taken into custody and faces
murder charges.
The suspect
Denny Carson
Booth, 59, of 1904 Baltimore Road in East Bend,
had a long standing disagreement with his neighbors.
The man had moved from the property earlier in the month, but
returned with a gun and shot two civilians,
he was charged with three counts of
first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree
murder.
Reserve Sergeant Johnson is survived by his wife and three
children. He had served with the Forsyth County Sheriff's
Department for seven years and had previously served with the
Kernersville Police Department. Reserve deputies are officers
called to work as needed.

Reserve Deputy
Jeremy Rowley, 33, (right) married father of five children, was
taken to Wake Forest University
Baptist Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the
torso area. Rowley was the son-in-law of Johnson. Rowley is being
treated in the intensive care unit, and is expected to survive,
