French Camp Police Chief Anthony Lucas, 32, of Ackerman died after
he was shot with a shotgun about 10:15 p.m. Friday, February 4,
2005. Lawmen ended a brief pursuit at a residence on Whites Road, in
the Weir Community, where Lucas, who was assisting Ackerman Police,
was killed. Authorities arrested Christopher Fair, 16, of the Weir
Community and have charged him with capital murder. The Chief’s
position in French Camp is part time; Lucas was a Parole Officer
with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The Choctaw
Sheriff’s Office, Ackerman Police Department, Mississippi Highway
Patrol, Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and
Mississippi Department of Corrections participated in the
investigation of Lucas’ shooting.
Lucas is survived by his wife and 5-year-old son.
