Cause of Death: Heart Attack


Martin, 48, of Oxford, died Thursday night of a heart attack while finishing up his shift in Royal Oak Township, Martin was finishing up a traffic stop and was driving back to the substation to finish his shift, with a reserve officer when he died about 10:45 p.m. Deputy Martin told the officer to stop the car
because he didn't feel well and wanted to get some air, Deputy Martin stepped out of the vehicle and fell
to the ground, Oak Park Public Safety emergency workers arrived and took Martin to Providence Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Martin had been with the sheriff's department for six years and earlier was an officer for more than 17 years with Oxford Police. Martin was a Warren resident.

He is survived by his former wife Jennifer Martin, two children, Kelly and Kathryn
