Lake County sheriff's deputy
was killed and two were
wounded in central Florida after a domestic disturbance. Authorities
said they were looking for the shooter, identified as Jason Lee
Wheeler, 29, Deputy Wayne Koester died after being airlifted to a
hospital. Deputies Tom McKane and
Bill Crotty were shot in their
legs. Authorities said Wheeler's girlfriend said the property might
be booby trapped and that he has an arsenal of weapons. Deputies
immediately cordoned off the area north of Orlando, Fla., in the
search for the suspect minutes after the shooting. The incident
allegedly began as
a domestic dispute. When officers arrived the
suspect opened fire, and then fled on a motorcycle. A motorcycle was
reportedly found nearby, and the hunt for Wheeler was on. One nearby
elementary
school was placed under lockdown while the search
continued. Wheeler has been arrested at least four times in Florida on a variety of
charges including drugs, resisting officers and driving with a
suspended license.
