Police Officer Molly Bowden died Feb 10, 2005 from injuries sustained a month ago when she was shot  three times in the neck and shoulder during a traffic stop. Bowden was wounded at Forum and Nifong boulevards after stopping Rick Evans, 23, of Columbia in his car. Her patrol car’s video camera recorded the crime as Evans shot Bowden once as she stood beside his car. Police said the camera also captured Evans firing at Bowden after she had fallen to the ground. Evans left the scene and passers-by used the downed officer's car radio to summon help. Officer Molly Bowden, 26, had been hospitalized since the Jan. 10 shooting. She had been in a drug-induced coma to fight an infection. Bowden was wounded after she pulled over motorist Richard Thiel Evans in a south Columbia neighborhood. Evans died the next day of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fleeing from police and wounding a second Columbia officer with a gunshot to the arm.
