Mark Jones was killed after his cruiser flipped over and hit a tree on Interstate 95. 34-year-old Corporal Mark Jones of Hardeeville died instantly in the wreck shortly after 4:00 in the morning. Jones' police cruiser struck a tree. The Highway Patrol says Jones had completed a routine traffic stop at 3:45am. Authorities say four minutes later a call came in for police to go to a restaurant near I-95 where a drunk person was causing trouble. Hardeeville spokesman Rob Dewig says police don't know if Jones was responding to that call.

Officer Jones seen center front row had served with the Hardeeville Police Department for 3 years.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
