Officer Peter Grignon, 28, was called to the 2600 block of Accasia
Drive, where there was a report of a
vehicle
in a front yard. By the time Grignon arrived, the car was gone, but
upon investigating, he found the car on fire in a field about two
blocks away. Near that scene is where Grignon found two men at about
6:35 a.m. One man shot Grignon, who was shot in the neck and the
mouth. Neighbors would later say they heard someone saying, "Don't
shoot. Don't shoot," but it's not clear who said that.
One of the men turned his gun on
himself and killed himself, police said. The second man was taken
into police custody and was being questioned. Grignon just got
married in October and was with Metro Police for two years. His
father's birthday is today. Grignon died on the operating table. |

My prayers are with the family of Officer Grignon. I was probably one of the last people to see Officer Grignon alive. I will never forget that day as long as I live. I drove past him as he approached the 2 boys that morning. I never would of thought that something like that would of happened. Everyday I drive by that spot and remember what happened that morning. I know that Officer Grignon is in a better place now. I pray that the family is doing ok. You are in my prayers.

It was sad to here "Radio to 216 David" and not here Officer Grignon's voice on the other end of the line. My prayers are with his family, God bless them, because the only way that Peter can be with them now is by spirit, but sometimes, that is the best way of all.

From what I have heard, Peter was a great police officer. It is very
sad that he had to be killed. I will remember him for the rest of my
life. May he rest in peace, and my prayers are with his family.

It is not how he died, but how he lived that makes him a hero. Gone

As you grieve - so do we. You see my son is also a police officer -
his dream job. I pray for his safety each and every day as I'm sure
you have for Pete. I will pray for you to be given strength and to see
Pete in every rainbow, every flower, and every new day.

May your family find peace and strength. I know how it feels to
lose a family member in the line of duty. My prayers are with
you. They will be blessed for all that they did for us while
they were here and now they can all watch over us.
