Illinois State University detective Anthony J. Hosey, 37 died after losing control of his vehicle on Interstate 55 near Goodfarm Road, he was pronounced dead at 10 p.m. Hosey was traveling north on the interstate near milepost 224 when his 2004 Dodge Durango went off the roadway at 9:55 p.m., and into the center median where it rolled over several times. Hosey was ejected during the rollover and landed in the northbound lane of traffic. Northbound motorists Kimberly L. Clark, 24, Bloomington and Carol J. Shephardson, 56, Bolingbrook, were unable to maneuver their vehicles to avoid striking Hosey. Clark was driving a 2004 Dodge Stratus and Shephardson a 2003 Dodge Caravan. Hosey was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango owned by the university, and was not wearing his seat belt. witnesses noted the Hosey vehicle apparently went off the right side of the interstate, then came back across the highway and into the center median after the driver apparently overcorrected.

Preliminary investigation indicated Hosey died of massive head and neck trauma. Hosey was employed by the ISU Police Department. He was traveling to his home in Plainfield where he and his wife lived.

Love it's just 1.5 years and I miss you. I'm moving on, alone without you and I know you are with me. I know that I was "the one". The others filled a void. I was the one you married; the one for you; that is why you stayed; till the end. I will never have to go thru anything worse than what I went thru on that cold, early morning when they came. If that isn't a blessing, I don't know what is. Love you with all my heart and soul and will forever be your wife. Loving you still-Shannon

You loved many, and that's what your actions said. Too bad they still can't see. Rest, you ran enough to last a 90 year span.

Look at all you've done. Was it worth it? I doubt now that you can see with all knowing eyes that you would have chosen this path. Rest peacefully.

The easiest way for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing....Edmund Burke. There are people who think that we do the job to be heroes, or for personal gain. They could never understand that it is about the person next to you.

It is abundantly clear that ALL of your fallen officers shared a common thread - they were of the highest caliber yet modest and unassuming in the approach of their duties. I believe that for as long as such
men and women patrol your streets with such commitment and professionalism, then you have much to be proud of. My heart goes out to all the bereaved families, but be assured, there is someone in "every" corner of the world who cares!

May your family find peace and strength.  I know how it feels to lose a family member in the line of duty.  My prayers are with you.  They will be blessed for all that they did for us while they were here and now they can all watch over us.
