Deputy Lynch was shot and killed responding to a domestic violence
call at the residence after an 18-year-old girl called 911 to report
that her parents were fighting.
A second man also died in the
gunfire.
Deputy Roger Lynch, 51, and Joseph Calender were found dead Thursday
night, June 2nd, by a Kentucky State Police trooper who arrived a
short time later at the residence. Lynch was responding to a 911
call at Calender's residence at about 11:30 p.m. CDT, state police
said. Lynch and Calender, 48, exchanged shots in the stairwell of
the home. Autopsies were planned Friday on both men, said Livingston
County Coroner Jeff Armstrong. The state police trooper, Daniel
Jones, also found a teenage girl with a gunshot wound to the leg,
Armstrong said. The girl, who wasn't identified, was treated at a
Paducah hospital. Lynch, of Tiline, had been a Livingston County
deputy for five years.
Deputy Lynch had served with the Livingston County Sheriff's
Department for 5 years.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
