Deputy Sheriff Charlie Brown Martin County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina End of Watch: Tuesday, December 8, 2009 Age: 38 Badge Number: 809 Years on The Job: 15 Cause of Death: Shot and killed   Deputy Charlie Brown died after a shootout in the 1700 block of West Main Street. The unidentified suspect also was killed.  Deputy Brown was responding to a call in Williamston about a man who was walking down the street and firing a gun. Williamston is located about 100 miles east of Raleigh off the US 64 bypass.
