Authorities say a U.S. Border Patrol agent has died after collapsing at a Yuma checkpoint.

Border Patrol officials say 40-year-old John Hoag III collapsed about 4:30 a.m. Thursday while working at the immigration checkpoint on Highway 95.

They say Hoag was transported by ambulance to the Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 7 a.m.
The cause of death was not immediately released and Border Patrol officials did not provide a list of survivors.

Hoag had been with the Border Patrol since December 2003.
