Lieutenant Mike Vogt was shot and killed

rifle while in his patrol car.
Despite being under fire, he was able to reverse down the road and call for
assistance. He was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital, in Atlanta, where he
succumbed to his wounds. The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene
and a large manhunt is underway for the two to three suspects believed to
have been in the vehicle.
Lieutenant Vogt had served with the Chattahoochee Hills Police Department
for 14 months and had previously served with the Union City Police
Department. He is survived by his wife, adult children, and 13-year-old
granddaughter. |

Just a condolence
for officer Vogt, had the honor of talking to him online several times
before his death, he was a very nice man, and will be missed. My heart
goes out to his family in blue as well as blood.

My name is ED DAVIS and I am a retired Michigan State Trooper. After
retiring and serving in Desert Storm with my US Army reserve unit, I
worked with Mike. We were both employed with USFG Insurance company, me
in Michigan and Mike in Georgia. We were both fire investigators with
the insurance company.
Mike was a fine man and I admit I did not know he had turned to Law
enforcement.
My best to his family and the officer he worked with. He and his family
will be in my prayers and thoughts.
