Haynes was pursing a burglary suspect when his patrol
car was struck by one SUV, then another, even though the lights and siren
were on. The suspect, 23-year-old Sheldon Beckham, is charged with
second-degree murder, stealing less than $500 and resisting arrest.
Haynes was a newlywed who graduated from the police
academy just a little over a year ago.
Officer Haynes had served with the agency
for only one year. He is survived by his wife. |
