Richmond sheriff's deputy has died a week after she was involved in a single-vehicle crash at VCU Medical Center. Caroline Green, 51, died Saturday after undergoing several medical operations, according to the Richmond Sheriff's Office. Green crashed her unmarked vehicle into a concrete and glass wall next to a VCU Medical Center entrance June 11 about 10:45 p.m. Green had just finished a shift guarding someone at the hospital, said Col. Walter Allmon. She was wearing a seat belt, and tests for alcohol and drugs were negative, he said. At the crash site, on 12th Street just south of Clay Street, the front end of the sedan was visibly crumpled and the air bag deployed. "It's just tearing us apart," said Sheriff C.T. Woody Jr. Green had worked for the Sheriff's Office as a deputy for 14 years, took another job and returned to the department, Allmon said. "She was a good deputy," Allmon said. "She had a great disposition and was a real friendly person

Deputy Green had served with the Richmond Sheriff's Office for 16 years.
