Attack and disarm...

From a list member in a midwest city;

We were looking for a Car jacking suspect last night who hit a guy in the head a with a brick and took his pickup from him at Lowes at 7500 Dodge.  Ofc. D... had eyes on the suspect but lost him while trying to turn around at 72nd and Graceland Dr. earlier in the night.  Later around 2026hrs Ofc. S.... finds a guy matching the Descrip walking through...a parking lot.  I was doubled with B... and we get expedited to back her up with the turd.  A block away we hear Ofc. S yell over the radio  " He's got my Gun!"  Not something another officer wants to hear, ever, and we knew she was alone and I knew she didn't carry a back up weapon.  The "Help" goes out per the Sgt.  We pull up and there are 3 citizens on top of this guy and Mike and I are out and ontop of him literally punching the muzzles of our Glocks into the side of this guy's head telling him to let go of the weapon. Ofc. S. tells us that he has two guns on him.  I guess that before we got there she proned him out at gunpoint and moved into cuff him when he reached up and took her gun away from her and and pointed it at her.  She grabbed it and turned it around and tried to pull the trigger but he had his fingers in the trigger guard and she couldn't get it to fire or maybe it was out of battery.  Then citizens that were in the lot saw him pointing a weapon at Ofc. S. and they went up and tackled him and that is when Mike and I arrived.  I didn't think he was going to let go of the the gun and that a contact shot to the melon was imminent.  Nevertherless we got the loaded .357 magnum from him and got him cuffed and rolled him over and then found her gun underneath his 300lb ass.
Long story short; the guy was a 2X and had been arrested for Robbery twice before, and resisiting but never was prosecuted or convicted of these violent crimes among a number of other charges.  We were very close to attending another Cop's funeral. Thanks to some great 'Hero Citizens' on guard it wasn't so tonight.
