Police-killers deserve the same fate as their victims: death

In a world of pain and crime, I am glad there is the Blue Wall of Honor, a monument dedicated to honoring those who have fallen protecting the good and the bad of this nation's society. Some died protecting us. Some died saving lives. Some died for no reason whatsoever.

Each year, the ceremony brings back the friends I have lost and the heartache I bear for my loss. It always brings tears to my eyes when I realize another year without an officer on the beat, a dad playing with his kids, a husband not being there to support his wife or a friend no longer there to talk to or hang out with.

In my state, killing a cop simply means the murderer will sit in a prison cell. We, the people of this country, need to do out part some way, some how to make sure those who kill our protectors are given the judgment of death - the one they themselves imposed on officers whose lives they took.

Take a moment out of your busy day and think of the ones who have fallen, the ones who strived to make the area you live in a safe and friendlier place to live. I, for one, vow to push for stricter punishments for those who kill a public-safety officer, and I won't stop till I take my last breath.

Saying goodbye to a friend such as these protectors is one of the hardest things we have to do.
